Highlights

Easily highlight important messages in chat based on keywords or viewer types.

The Highlights feature in Hyperion helps you easily identify specific types of viewers or important messages in your chat.

Accessing Highlights

You can configure highlights by navigating to Settings -> Highlights.

Global Settings

  • Highlight messages: Toggle this switch to globally enable or disable all message highlighting features.

Viewer Highlights

Hyperion allows you to highlight messages from specific categories of users. To configure these, go to the Viewers section in the Highlights settings.

Supported viewer types:

  • Mentions: When you are mentioned in chat (e.g., @YourUsername).
  • First Time Chats: Messages from users chatting for the first time.
  • Returning Chatters: Messages from returning users.
  • Suspicious Users: Users flagged as suspicious (e.g., ban evaders, restricted users).
  • Broadcasters: Messages from the channel owner.
  • Moderators: Messages from channel moderators.
  • Subscribers: Messages from channel subscribers.
  • VIPs: Messages from VIP users.

Customization: For each viewer type, you can customize:

  • Color: The color used for the highlight.
  • Style: The visual appearance of the highlight.
    • Default: Adds a colored border and a header bar with an icon and label above the message.
    • Compact: Adds a colored border around the message without a header.
    • Background: Tints the background of the message with the selected color.
  • Reset: Click the reset icon to restore the default settings for a specific category.

Priority: Viewer highlights have a hierarchy. If a user falls into multiple categories, the highest priority highlight will be displayed. The order is:

  1. Mention
  2. First Time Chat
  3. Returning Chatter
  4. Broadcaster
  5. Moderator
  6. Suspicious User
  7. VIP
  8. Subscriber

Keyword Highlights

You can create custom triggers to highlight messages containing specific words or phrases. Go to the Keywords section to manage these.

Adding a Keyword:

  1. Click the Add new trigger button.
  2. Enter the text you want to match in the input field.
  3. Configure the Color and Style (Default, Compact, Background).

Advanced Matching:

  • Aa (Match Case): Performs a case-sensitive search (e.g., "Hello" will not match "hello").
  • |ab| (Whole Word): Matches only complete words (e.g., "cat" will not match "catastrophe").
  • .* (Regex): Treats the pattern as a Regular Expression for advanced pattern matching.

Managing Keywords:

  • Use the Edit button to modify an existing trigger.
  • Use the Trash icon to delete a trigger.

Info

Viewer highlights take precedence over Keyword highlights. If a message triggers both (e.g., a Moderator says a keyword), the Viewer highlight (Moderator) will be shown.
