Splits
Participate in multiple chats simultaneously with a flexible drag-and-drop layout.
The Splits feature allows you to monitor multiple Twitch channels at once by arranging them in a grid layout. You can customize the arrangement, resize panes, and navigate between them efficiently.
Activating Split View
You can enter the split view multiple ways:
- Click the
Open split viewbutton in the sidebar - Right-click a channel in the channel list and select
Open in Split View - Use the keyboard shortcut:
Cmd/Ctrl+T
Adding New Splits
Once you are in Split View, you can add more channels from the channel context menu or by dragging them into the layout.
From the Channel List
Right-click on a channel in the sidebar list. You will see new options to split the current view relative to the focused pane:
- Split Up
- Split Down
- Split Left
- Split Right
Selecting one of these will add the channel to the layout in the chosen direction.
Using Empty Splits
You can create placeholders for channels directly from an existing split pane:
- Locate the header of an existing split pane.
- Click the Split Horizontal or Split Vertical icon.
- An empty split will appear. You can then drag a channel from the sidebar into this empty space to load it.
Arranging and Resizing
Drag and Drop
You can rearrange your layout by dragging channels:
- Click and drag a channel from the sidebar into the center of a split to replace its content.
- Drag a channel to the edges (top, bottom, left, right) of an existing split to create a new split in that direction.
Resizing Panes
- Hover your mouse over the border between two splits.
- The cursor will change to a resize icon.
- Click and drag the border to adjust the size of the panes.
Navigation
You can quickly move focus between split panes using keyboard shortcuts without using the mouse:
- Windows/Linux:
Ctrl+Arrow Key(Up, Down, Left, Right) - macOS:
Cmd+Arrow Key(Up, Down, Left, Right)
When you navigate to a split, the input box for that channel is automatically focused so you can start typing immediately.
Closing Splits
To remove a split:
- Click the X icon in the header of the split pane you want to close.
The behavior when closing a split (whether it preserves the layout or removes the pane entirely) can be configured in the settings.
Configuration
You can customize the behavior of the Splits feature in Settings > Splits:
- Default orientation: Choose if new splits open horizontally or vertically by default.
- Restore behavior: Decide what happens when you restore a layout with a single split (Preserve, Redirect to channel, or Remove).
- Close behavior:
- Preserve: Replaces the closed channel with an empty split.
- Remove: Removes the pane and expands adjacent splits to fill the space.
- Leave on close: Automatically leave the Twitch channel when you close its split pane.
- Go to channel after closing: If enabled, closing the last remaining split will navigate you to that channel's standard view.
